TIKO – Tiko Municipality is set to benefit from a new development initiative designed to promote peaceful coexistence, strengthen community resilience, and improve the livelihoods of vulnerable populations.

The Lesley Foundation, in partnership with PROSCIG, will soon launch a 12-month project focused on fostering social cohesion and economic empowerment across selected communities in the municipality.

The initiative aims to mitigate social tensions, build resilience, and enhance local development through community-led infrastructure projects and vocational training. The project will be implemented in the communities of Mudeka, Miselelele, and Mondoni.

As part of preparations for the rollout, officials of the Lesley Foundation, CASAF, and a GIZ Technical Adviser visited the three communities on Friday, July 24, 2026, to engage residents and raise awareness about the objectives and expected benefits of the project.

The delegation was accompanied by Tiko Council’s Fourth Deputy Mayor, Waindim Rudolf, who represented Mayor HRH Dr. Peter Ikome Mesoso III, as well as the Council’s Head of Local Solutions, Mr. Sone Julius.

During the sensitization exercise, the team held consultative meetings with members of the Zonal Neighborhood Committees in the three communities, emphasizing the importance of community participation and ownership in ensuring the project’s success.

According to the organizers, an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting will be convened in the coming days at Tiko Council, bringing together community leaders from the three beneficiary zones to finalize implementation plans and officially kick-start the project.

The initiative aligns with Tiko Council’s development vision of promoting inclusive growth, peaceful coexistence, and sustainable community development across the municipality.
